God of Freedom by Tony F. Jones, 2022
My God, my Savior, My Father of no end,
I thank You for your mercy and the blessings that you send.
Your fruitful Spirit, Your righteous ways,
Your forgiving heart I honor and praise.
My endless thanks for Your eternal love,
the grace you send from heaven above.
I inherit salvation, glory and reason,
never-ending deliverance, living God of freedom.
My Lord ---- by Krystal B. 2019
My Lord hears my cries,
When I ask in the name of Jesus….
I know I will receive.
As my Savior, my God is a giving God!
I prayed and asked
The Lord for salvation.
He washed away all my sins
And forgave me.
My Lord hears my cries,
There is none like Him!
No one can answer my prayers
Like my God!
I fear nothing as I know
My Savior;
My God is on my side.
My God is all I fear!
He shall keep me safe
From all harm.
If God Would Go On Strike ---- by unknown, sent in by an inmate in Virginia
It's just a good thing that God above has never gone on strike.
He wasn't treated fairly for things He didn't like....
if He once sat down and said, "That's it, I'm through.
I've had enough of those on earth, so this is what I'll do."
For no one has been more abused or treated with disdain
than God,
and yet He carries on, and everything for free.
We say we want a better deal, and so on strike we go,
but what a deal we've given God,
to whom everything we owe.
We don't care who we hurt or harm to get the things we like,
"I'll give my orders to the sun, cut off your heat supply;
and to the moon give no more light. And run the ocean dry,
Then really just make it tough and put the pressure on,
turn off the air and oxygen til every breath is gone.
Do you know He'd be justified
if fairness was the game, but what a mess
we'd all be in if God would go on strike.
My Mistakes A Psalm of the Heart --- Gabriela Lopez 2019
All my mistakes weigh heavily on my heart;
It is so heavy; I feel like my heart will fall down to my stomach;
I try so hard to forgive myself for all my mistakes, so I can
release this load of chains that weigh so heavily on my heart.
I pound my chest, praying that my chains will fall and disappear.
No matter how hard I try, I can’t---
I cry in distress: “Pease forgive me for I have sinned against you!” to God.
“God, please help me,” I cry this pain on my heart.
I can’t live like this with all the heart strain.
“Help me, O God”, I cry again.
“God, whisper in my ear. Tell me my sins are forgiven.
Prevent me from relying on my own strength.
You have promised to never leave me or forsake me.“
I cry, “Thank you, God, for taking the burden of my sins!
My heart rests easy for the first time while the chains of sin fall off.
I love you, Daddy, for you took my pain away and
I can breathe again.”
Amen.
Excerpts from "The Children's Prayer Book" by Pressley Alston, on death row:
Lord Jesus, bless me with your angels, bless me with your word. Thank you, Jesus, for it is my voice that You heard. Bless my home, bless my teacher, bless my friend. Lord, Jesus this is why I need you to bless me with your angels and with your word. Amen.
Jesus , you are my light, keep me safe in the night. Lord Jesus, you are my friend. Hold my hand until the end. Lord Jesus, I love you. Thank you, Jesus, for all that you do.
